Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3566
F.O.E. 3566 members,
Smoking used to be as accepted in all places as drinking coffee, but not anymore. Concerns about the impact of secondhand smoke and the comfort of nonsmokers have prompted most states to enact laws that prohibit or severely restrict indoor smoking. The Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3566 is questioning whether we should remain a smoking Aerie or transition into a non-smoking Aerie. Something is pulling us to address a change. Not in a confess-your-sins-oh-ye-sinners way, but to shift directions to embrace a change.
Members of F.O.E. 3566 will cast their vote September 30, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. The vote is to determine whether we will remain a smoking Aerie or transition into a smoke free Aerie; not allowing smoking anywhere inside the facility.
There will not be a change if the outcome of the Aerie's vote is favorable to smoking. We will continue business as usual.
However, should the vote favor nonsmoking, we will hold additional meetings to formulate an implementation plan. Aerie smokers should rest at ease, we will accommodate all our members. A designated smoking area will be developed in compliance with an approved plan and an accommodating outdoor smoking area. Work permits and construction will take place and be complete prior to the Aerie's transition to non-smoking. The projected timeframe to transition from a smoking to non-smoking Aerie is roughly 6-months to a year. We will NOT immediately transition on October 1, 2017 if the vote swings towards non-smoking.
